SilverPlug® is the only known patented, registered and certified Class IIA medical device designed to seal the screw channel of dental implants. It was developed to seal the channels of screw-retained crowns, abutments, and Toronto bridges. Its truncated cone shape allows perfect adaptation to any screw channel diameter. It fits all implant systems. Once the channel is sealed with SilverPlug®, the access hole can be closed with any type of composite. The crown can likewise be cemented using any temporary or permanent cement.

SilverPlug® is an intelligent material to seal implant screw channels with antibacterial effectiveness. This stable material effectively protects the restoration screw channel from bacterial growth, the screw head from damage, and the implant from mucositis or peri-implantitis.

SilverPlug® efficiently fills the free space that could otherwise be colonized by bacteria and helps prevent bacterial accumulation in the screw channel thanks to its antibacterial properties. It can be cut to any desired length for placement in the screw channel and easily removed if needed. (It is not light-cured, which allows it to retain its flexibility.)

Up to 80% of “healthy” implants show some signs of mucosal inflammation. SilverPlug® offers a simple, efficient and long-term solution that reduces bacterial load around implants and the associated risks.

SilverPlug® is made of a silver-based polymer with natural antibacterial properties. The material retains its functional characteristics throughout the patient’s lifetime. It does not release silver into the body.

Commonly used materials (wax, cotton, gutta-percha, Teflon, etc.) – which are not certified medical devices but often used for this purpose – create an ideal environment for anaerobic bacterial proliferation. Bacterial infections are generally one of the main causes of peri-implantitis.

SilverPlug® drastically reduces, through contact, the percentage of anaerobic bacteria inside the implant screw channel – one of the main pathogenic causes of peri-implantitis. Reducing bacterial contamination in the implant protects the surrounding soft tissues from inflammatory processes and helps lower the risk of peri-implantitis development.
