The resorbable LeadFIX pins are used to fix resorbable membranes in dental surgery. Membranes fixed with pins prevent displacement of the bone graft material and support new bone formation. Micro-movements can hinder the healing process and negatively affect bone remodeling and soft tissue integration. Explantation of pins is not necessary and does not damage newly formed structures.
It is recommended to use LeadFIX instruments for tacks insertion.
The biodegradable membrane pins are made of polylactide, a unique resorbable material that has been used for many years in the production of osteosynthesis implants and proven suture material. Biological degradation occurs through hydrolysis into lactic acid, which is then metabolized into CO₂ and H₂O.
After 6–7 months, the mechanical strength of the LeadFIX pin decreases. A process begins in which the pin is resorbed and its volume reduced. The membrane tack is fully resorbed after 60 weeks.
Tack length: 3.5 mm
Tack diameter: 2.5 mm
Indications
Membrane fixation, for example in the following cases:
- Fenestration defects at implant insertion
- Sinus lifting
- Ridge augmentation
- Augmentation after block removal in the retromolar area and mandible
- Augmentation of periodontal pockets
Note
- Two membrane tacks are delivered sterile in a glass vial.
- It is recommended to use LeadFIX instruments for pin insertion.
- The tack is fully resorbed after 60 weeks.
